Windows Management

TermDefinition
Active Window The window that you are working with on a desktop.
Application File A file that is part of an application program.
Computer Utility program designed to help you find, view, and manage files easily and effictively.
Data File A file created when working with an application program.
Directory A container for files and other directories; also called a folder.
File Properties Characteristicts that help you locate and organize files.
Gadgets Small programs displayed in the sidebar on the desktop.
Hidden File A file like any other, except that it is not displayed in the computer window.
Icons Objects on the desktop used as shortcuts to performing tasks.
Quick Lauch Toolbar Desktop element that starts a program with one mouse click.
Recycle Bin Standard desktop element used to store discared items.
Shortcut An icon that reprensents a link to an item, rather than the item itself.
Sidebar Desktop element that displays small programs called gadgets.
System File Essential files nessicary for running windows.
