| Hyperbole | Expressing extreme exaggeration. |
| Idiom | A phrase without literal meaning. |
| Rhyme | Words which contain the same sounds. |
| Metaphor | A direct, non-literal comparison made between two dissimilar objects, actions, or traits. |
| Alliteration | The repetition of sounds in two or more neighboring words or syllables. |
| Rhyme Scheme | A pattern of rhyming words or lines (AABB, ABBA, etc.) |
| Onomatopoeia | Naming a thing or action by imitating the sound associated with it. |
| Personification | Giving human qualities to non-human things. |
| Imagery | Creating a mental picture using words that appeal to any of the five senses. |
| Oxymoron | A phrase of terms that contradicts each other. |
| Pun | A play on words with humorous intent. |
