Internet The computer network that connects computers scross the wold.

Web site A specific location on the Web that contains a group of related files and resources.
uniform resource locator (URL) A Web site's own unique Internet address that no other Web site can use.
Internet service povider (ISP) A company that provides access to the Internet usually for a monthly fee.
Web browser a software program that can surf the Wed and interact with Web sites.
Electronic mail (e-mail) A communication sent from one person to another over the Internet.
netiquette The reuls or manners used electronic communications.
spam Unwanted e-mail sent by an unknown person or business.
firewall Hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intruders especially from over the Internet.
home page The first Web page an Inernet browser is set to access when opened.
drill down To move from general information to more detailed information by exploring a series of folders drop-down menus or Web pages.
site map An index of the main pages in a Web site used to jump staight to page without drilling down.
bookmark A shortcut that takes you directly to a Web page.
Favorites Internet Expiorer's term for Web site bookmarks.
History A record kept Web page an Internet browser is set to access when opened.
Print Preview A brorwser function used to see how a document or Web page is going to appear on paper.
Search engine A Web site used to seek out other Web pages using kewords.
Boolean search A search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find more exact results.
