Internet The internet is a gigantic computer network that connects computers across the world. It has changed the way people communicate, work, and have fun
World Wide web The world wide web is only one part of the internet.
web site A web site is a specific location on the web that contains a collecton of related files and resources by a person, group, or organization.
uniform Resource locator (URL). this address is called a uniform resource locato (URL). If you know the unique, or dstinctive, address or url, you can go directoy to a web site. Each web age also has an address, just as every page in a book has its own page number.
Internet service provider (ISP). An internet service provider (ISP) IS A COMPANY THAT SELLS YOU ACCESS TO THE INTERNET, USUALLY FOR A MONTHLY FEE.
Web browser is a software program that lets you surf the Web and interact with Web sites.
electronic mail (e-mail) is another way that you can share information using the internet email is a communication sent from one person to another or to many people over the internet.
netiquette refers to the good manners one uses in electronec cmmunecations.
spam is lide jund mail it is sent in buld to many peoples email accounts.
firewall is hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intruders.

home page the home page for your browser usually allows you to do one or more of the following.

site map an index
bookmark is a shortcut stored in tour browser that takes you directly to a web page.
favorites in the internet explrer browser, bookmarks are called favorites.
history history of your web site visits.
print preview allows you to view a page so you can see how it will look when it is printed.
search engine is a special kind of web site that lets you search for other web pages using keywords.
boolean search this is a search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you wnt by eliminating search results that are too general or too broad.
