Internet A gigaantic computer netword that connects computers across the world.
World Wide Web The huge collection of information, services, and the Web sites accessible through the Internet
Web Site A specific location on the Web that contains a collection related files and resources by a person, group, or organization.
Uniform Resource Locator {URL} A Web site that has its own address that no other site can use.
Internet Service Provider {ISP} A company that sells you access to the Internet, usually for a monthly fee.
Web Browser A software program that lets you surf the Web and interact with Web sites.
Electronic Mail {e-mail} Another way that you can share information using the Internet.
Netiquette refers to the goof manners one uses in electronice
Spam Junk mail
Firewall A software or hardware that protects a computer or network from intruders
Home Page The first web page you see when your browser opens
Dril Down Clicking on a link that opens a new Web page within the site
Site Map An index of all the main pages in the site that you may use to jump start to a page without drilling down
Bookmark A shortcut stored in your browser goes to that page immediately
Favorites In the Internet Browser, bookmarks are called Favorites
History A record that you computer keep as you search your browser.
Print Preview Allows you to view a page so you can see how it will look when it is printed
Search Engine A special kind of Web site that lets you search for other Web pages using keywords.
Boolean Search A search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you wnat by eliminating search results that too general or too broad.
