| Uniform Resource Locator (URL) | A web sites address that no one else can use |
| Internet Service Provider (ISP) | A company that sells you access to the Internet usually for a monthly fee |
| Web Browser | a software program that lets you surf the web and interact with websites |
| Electronic Mail (E-Mail) | A Communication sent from one person to another, or to many people, over the Internet |
| Netiquette | The good manners one uses in electronic communication |
| Spam | Junk Mail that is usually sent to sell you something |
| Firewall | A hardware or software that protects a computer or network from intuders |
| Home Page | The first web page you see when you open your browser |
| Drill Down | To find more specific information |
| Site Map | an index of all the main pages in the site that you may use to jump straight to a page without drillng down |
| Bookmark | is a shortcut in your browser that takes you directly to a web page |
| Favorites | is what bookmarks are called in the internet browser |
| History | the track of every website you visted in the past few days or even weeks |
| Print Preview | allows you to view a page so you can see what it looks like printed |
| search engine | is a special kind of website that lets you search other web pages using key words |
| Boolean Search | this is a search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you want by eliminating search results that are too general or too broad |
