Uniform resource locater (URL) | Web site has its own address that no other site can use. |
Internet service provider (ISP) | a company that sells you access to the Internet usually for a monthly fee. |
Web browser | a software program that lets you surf the Web and interact with Web sites. |
Electronic mail (e-mail) | another way that you can share information using the Internet. |
Netiquette | the good manners one uses in electronic communications. |
Spam | junk mail. |
Firewall | is a hardware or software that protects a computer or network from inturders. |
Home page | the first Web page you see when your browser opens |
Drill down | when you explore a Web site, you usually start with the home page and drill down. |

Bookmark | a shortcut stored in your browser that takes you directly to a Web page. |
Favorites | In the Internet Explorer, bookmarks are called Favorites |
History | your browser keeps track of every page you have visited for the past few days or even weeks. |
Print Preview | allows you to view a page so you can see how it will look when it is printed. |
Search engine | a special kind of Web site that lets you search for other Web pages using keywords. |
Boolean search | this is a search that uses keywords plus special symbols to find the exact information you want by eliminating search results that are too general or too broad. |
