Basic terminology for Unit 1 - Improving Keyboarding Skills

TermDefinition
Accuracy Degree of freedom from keying errors.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) An inflammatory disease that develops gradually and affects the wrists, hands, and forearms.
Ergonomics The science of adapting equipment to the work and health needs of people.
GWAM The number of standard words keyed in one minute.
Posture The position of the body.
Repetitive Stress Injury (RTI) The result of repeated movement of a particular part of the body.
Technique The keyboard operator's form or keying style.
Standard Word in Timings Five strokes equals one word in timings.
