Formatting Text

TermDefinition
Attribute Formatting feature that affects how a font looks, such as a style, the color, or an effect.
Color Palette Coordinated set of colors available for use in a document.
Font Design of the text.
Font effect similar to a font style, helps you enhance or clarify the look of text.
Font Size Height of characters in points.
Font Style Emphasis added to cells, such as bold, italics, and underlining.
Format Painter Feature that copies format attributes such as colors, borders, and fill effects from an object, text, or cell in order to apply the same formatting to another object, text, or cell.
Point Measurement unit for font size.
Style Set of formatting options that have been named and saved.
Theme Preset collection of design elements, including fonts, colors, and other effects.
Emboss Is a font effect.
False Points are not the unit of measurement for fonts.
Most common font styles Regular, Bold, and Italics.
How do you open font dialog box? Go to the font group on the home tab and select the expand button on the bottom right hand corner to open the Font dialog box.
How do you clear formatting commands? You can select the clear formatting button in the font group on the home tab or you can open the Quick styles gallery and click Clear Formatting at the bottom.
How do you add a border? Go to paragraph group and click bottom border and borders and shading.
False You cannot add art to a border.
False A resume always includes complete sentences.
True There are 2 line spaces (click enter twice) after the date and the recipients address.
False There are 6 line spaces after the close and your name.
True You always sign your name in black ink.
