Some of the many terms, tools and palettes used in InDesign for color.

| Swatches | 1. An InDesign palette that contains solid and mixed samples of color |
| Cyan | 2. What the C stands for in CMYK |
| Magenta | 3. What the M stands for in CMYK |
| Yellow | 4. What the Y stands for in CMYK |
| Black | 5. What the K stands for in CMYK |
| Stroke | 6. What Adobe apps call an outline around an object |
| CMYK | 7. The 4 letters used together that represents the 4 colors used in color process printing |
| Paper | 8. What the color WHITE is called in the InDesign color palette |
| Gradient | 9. A function in graphic software permitting a person to make an image contain a gradual change of colors (such as purple turning gradually into blues and then greens). |
| Color | 10. An InDesign palette that allows you to mix colors to be added to the Swatches palette |
| Fill | 11. What you select in the Swatches and Color palettes to color the INSIDE area of an object or font |
| Stroke | 12. What you select in the Swatches and Color palettes to color the OUTSIDE area of an object or font |
