Software the electronic instructions that govern computer's actions to provide a computing service
Software Development the systematic process of transforming a software idea into functional software
Computer Programming the process of creating software through the use of logic, algorithms, and programming languages
Programming Languages provides a set of symbol, commands, and rules (syntax) used to write program code
Application Programming (API) a set of programming tools specifically designed for developing apps for a particular platform
System Software any software that coordinates the activities of the hardware and assists the computer in functioning safely, effectively, and efficiently
Boot Process the sequence of instructions in the BIOS that is executed when a computer is power on to check the system and load the operating system into memory
Operating System (OS) a set of computer programs that run or control the computer hardware, and act as a user interface
User Interface allows one or more people to have access to and command of a computer system or computer software
File Management the physical and logical storage system and practices provided for managing data on a computer
Linux free, open-source operating system for PCs, severs, and other types of computers
Virtualization Machine Software allows one operating system to run on top of another by creating a virtual machine on which the guest operating system can run
Mobile Operating Systems lightweight operating systems designed for mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets
Industrial Operating Systems systems that control large networked systems and servers
Embed Operating System hardwired into a computer
Utility Software any system software besides the Os that assist in maintaining, managing and protecting computer system resources
Application Software programs written to perform tasks or solve problems for people, groups, and organizations
Business Software any software designed to assist individuals and groups to be more productive at work and is often used in reference to software suites
Mobile Software software designed for smart phones and tablets
Managing Software activities required to acquire, install maintain, and remove software from a computer system
Software Licensing defines the permissions, rights, and restrictions to the person who purchases a copy of the software
Installing Software the process by which software is added to a computer so that it is available for use
Maintaining Software applying software updates to correct software bugs, improve the software, or add new features
Uninstalling Software the process of completely removing software from a computer
Internet Technologies protocols, hardware, and software
TCP/IP the protocols on which the Internet is based are the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (TCP)
Internet Service Provider (ISP) a company that provides individuals and organizations with access to the Internet
Client/Server a network architecture in which one computer program (the client) makes a service request from another computer or program (the server), which provides the service
Peer-to-Peer (P2P) a network architecture that does not utilize a central server but facilitates communication directly between clients with computer acting a both client and server
Router a network device that message network traffic by evaluating messages and routing them over the fastest path to their destination
Domain Name System (DNS) database to acquire names and IP addresses on the Internet
Voice over IP (VoIP) technology that support voice communications using the Internet protocol over data networks -Ex: Skype
Telecommunications the electronic transmission and receptions of signals for voice and data communications
Infrastructure hardware, software, and protocols that support communications
Radio Spectrum part of the electromagnetic spectrum, refers to all of the frequencies for radio waves and their assigned uses
Cellular Network radio networks distributed over land by a transceiver antenna (tower)
Cellular Carrier a company that builds and matains a cellular network and provides cell phone services to the public
Wireless Data Communication telecommunication that takes place over the air -Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
Wi-Fi is wireless network technology that uses access points to wirelessly connect users to networks
WiMax a fourth-generation wireless broadband technology that evolved from Wi-Fi to provide faster Internet access at a longer range
Bluetooth enables a wide assortment of digital devices to communicate with others wirelessly over short distances
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tiny transponders in tags that can be attached to merchandise or other objects, and read wirelessly using a RFID reader
GPS satellites to pinpoint the location of objects on Earth
