ARGUMENT THE PARTS OF A FORMULA THAT ARE VARIABE. YOU SELECT THE CELL OR CELLS FOR EACH ARGUMENT, AND EXCEL CALCULATES THE ANSWERS BASED ON THEIR VALUES.
NEST TO USE A FUNCTION AS AN ARGUMENT WITIN ANOTHER FUNCTION.
FORMULA AUTOCOMPLETE A FEATURE THAT SPEEDS UP THE MANUAL ENTRY OF FUNCTIONS.
AUTOCALCULATE A FEATURE THAT TREMPORARILY PERFORMS THAT FOLLOWING CALCULATIONS ON A RANGE OF CELLS WITHOUT MAKING YOU WRITE A FORMULA: AVERAGE, COUNT, COUNTA, MAX, MIN, OR SUM.
EXCEL TABLE DATA ARRANGED IN COLUMNS AND SPECIALLY FORMATTED WITH COLUMN HEADERS THAT CONTAIN COMMANDS THAT ALLOW YOU TO SORT, FILTER, AND PERFORM OTHER FUNCTIONS.

FUNCTION A PREPROGRAMMED EXCEL FORMULA FOR A COMPLEX CALCULATION.
CRITERIA A VALUE, SOME TEXT, OR AN EXPRESSION THAT DEFINES THE TYPE OF CELLS YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.
EXPRESSION A SORT OF EQUATION THAT RETURNS A VALUE, SUCH AS TRUE OR FALSE. EXCEL USES EXPRESSIONS TO IDENTIFY CELLS TO INCLUDE IN CERTAIN FORMULAS, SUCH AS IF AND SUMIF.
NESTING USING A FUNCTION AS AN ARGUMENT WITHIN ANOTHER FUNCTION.
ARGUMENT A VARIABLE USED IN A FUNCTION. AN ARGUMENT CAN BE A NUMBER, TEXT, FORMULA, OR A CELL REFERENCE, A COMMA SEPARATES EACH ARGUMENT IN A FUNCTION.
CHART A GRAPHIC THAT ALLOWS YOU TO COMPARE AND CONTRAST DATAT IN A VISUAL FORMAT.
EMBEDDED CHART A CHART PLACED AS AN OBJECT WITHIN A WORKSHEET.
CHART SHEET A CHART THAT OCCUPIES ITS OWN WORKSHEET.
PLOT TO POSITION DATA POINTS ON A GRAPH.
DATA SERIES FOR MOST CHARTS, A DATA SERIES IS THE INFORMATION IN A WORKSHEET COLUMN. IF YOU SLECT MULITPLE COLUMS OF DATA FOR A CHART, YOU'LL CREATE MULTIPLE DATA SERIES. EACH DATA SERIES IS THEN REPRESENTED BY ITS OWN COLOR BAR, LINE. OR COLUMN.
LEGEND A KEY THAT IDENTIFIES EACH OF THE DATA SERIES IN A CHART.
X-AXIS THE HORIZONTAL SCALE OF A CHART ON WHICH CATEGORIES ARE PLOTTED.
Y-AXIS THE VERTICAL SCALE OF A CHART ON WHICH THE VALUE OF EACH CATEGORY IS PLOTTED.
CATEGORIES FOR MOST CHARTS, A CATEGORY IS INFORMATION IN A WORKSHEET ROW. IF YOU SELCT MULTIPLE ROWS OF DATA FOR A CHART, YOU'LL CREAT MULTIPLE CATEGORIES, AND THESE WILL BE LISTED ALONG THE X-AXIS.
PLOT AREA THE AREA DEFINED BY THE X AND Y AXES.
OBJECT AN ITEM THAT IS TREATED SEPARATELY FROM THE MAIN DOCUMENT. IN THE CASE OF A CHART, EACH CHART ELEMENT IS AN OBJECT THAT CAN BE MANIPULATED INDEPENDENTLY.
CHART AREA THE TOTAL AREA OCCUPIED BY A CHART.
TICK MARKS LINES OF MEASUREMENT ALONG THE VALUE AND CATEGORY AXES.
