boilerplate text Standard text used in various documents, such as contracts and correspoondence and in main documen
data source Documents containing the recores with variable information to be merged into a main document.
field name Indicates variable text to be inserted in a main document
Field Set of codes to tell Word to insert items into a document.
header row The row in a data source that contains the field names.
main document Form document that contains boilerplate text and variable text.
merge fields Fields in a main document where you want to print the information from a data source.
record A group of related fields in a data source.
variable text The text contained in a data source that is merged into a main document.
callouts Let you insert text to label or point out an item.
crop To remove a portion or a graphic image that you do not need or want is to
drop cap Enlarged capital letter to emphasize the first letter in a paragraph is a(n
pull quotes Often used in magazine and newsletter articles to highlight specific text included within the article.
sidebar Supplemental text that is added to a document, such as a magazine or newspaper
watermark A ghost image that appears behind the printed text.
directory In this type of document, all variable data is merged into a single document.
filter selects specific data records
POSTNET bar code speeds mail delivery
anchor Indicates the reference point for positioning a graphic.
organization charts illustrate the structure of a group
autoshapes provide an easy way to create objects, including stars, arrows, and callouts
text boxes enable you to format sidebars, pull qoutes, and drop caps
mail merge used to create personalized form letters, mailing labels, and envelopes
