Function prewritten formula that is built into Excel; takes a value, performs an operation, and returns a result to a cell
Formula if you assign this to a cell, Excel will calculate the result
Order of Operations moving from left to right in a formula as follows: negation (
Point Mode allows you to select cells for use in a formula by using the mouse
Smart Tags Excel can identify certain actions to take on specific data in workbooks using these
Arguments the values that you can use with a function
MAX Function displays the highest value in a range
MIN Function determines the lowest (minimum) number in the range
Range Finder checks which cells are referenced in the formula assigned to the active cell; allows you to make immediate changes to the cells referenced in a formula
Accounting Number Format a dollar sign to the left of the number, inserts a comma every three positions to the left of the decimal point, and displays numbers to the nearest cent (hundredths place)
Fixed Dollar Sign Excel displays this to the far left in the cell, often with spaces between it and the first digit
Floating Dollar Sign appears immediately to the left of the first digit with no spaces
Comma Style Format can be assigned to a range of cells by clicking the Comma Style button on the Ribbon, inserts a comma every three positions to the left of the decimal point and causes numbers to be displayed to the nearest hundredth
Conditional Formatting Highlights worksheet data by changing the look of cells that meet a specified condition
Condition the procedure that is varied in order to estimate a variable's effect by comparison with a control condition
Pixel a dot on the screen that contains a color
Best Fit means that the width of the column will be increased or decreased so the widest entry will fit in the column
Values Version shows the results of the formulas you have entered, rather than the actual formulas
Formulas Version shows the actual formulas you have entered, rather than the resulting values
Web Query used to import data stored on a web site
