Internet A worldwide collection of networks that link millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals.
ISP provide Internet access to a specific geographical area; AOL, Time Warner Cable
OSP online service provider with many member-only features; Google, Yahoo, Ebay
WISP provides wireless Internet access to computers and mobile devices; T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon
IP Address A number that identifies each computer or device connected to the Internet.
Domain Name The text version of an IP Address.
World Wide Web (WWW) Consists of a worldwide collection of electronic documents (Web Pages).
Web Site A collection of related Web pages and associated items.
Web Page An individual HTML Document.
Web Server A computer that delivers requested Web pages to your computer.
Web 2.0 Web sites that provide a way for users to interact.
Web Browser Allows users to access Web pages and Web 2.0 programs.
Homepage The first page that a Web Browser displays.
Links A word, phrase, or image that you can click on to open a new document or to go to a new web page.
Downloading The process of receiving information.
URL / Web Address: A unique address for a single Web Page.
Tabbed Browsing Allows you to open and view multiple Web pages in a single Web browser window
Search Engine Finds information related to a specific topic.
E-mail Program Allows you to create, send, receive, forward, store, print, or delete e-mail messages.
Mailing List A group of e-mail names and addresses given a single name.
