Acremonium spp. Fungi Imperfecti; plant debris and soil; cause onychomycosis, keratitis, endocarditis, meningitis, peritonitis, osteomyelitis
Fusarium spp. Fungi imperfecti; plants and soil; emerging cause of opportunistic mycoses; disseminated has high mortality; trauma or inhaled conidia
Geotricum spp. Fungi imperfecti; worldwide in soil, water, air, sewage, plants, cereal, dairy products; normal human flora; acquired via ingestion or inhalation
Paecilomyces spp. Sexual stage - telemorph; soil, decaying plants, food; emerging opportunistic pathogen; causes onychomycosis, sinusitis, otitis media, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, peritonitis, catheter-related fungemia
Penicillium spp. Telomorph; particularly virulent in AIDS patients; causes keratitis, endophtalmitis, otomycosis, necrotizing esophagitis, pneumonia, endocarditis, peritonitis, UTIs
Scopulariopsis spp. Soil, plant material, feathers, insects; has both hyaline and dematiaceous species; onychomycosis especially of toe nails; disseminated infections have high mortality
