what is copyright? The legal right of ownership to the work produced in books,music,plays,graph/pictures and computer software
what does copyright protect? copyright protects tangible expression of ideas.
what is the purpose of copyright? the purpose of copyright is to protect the creator of a creative work.
what is infringement? Infringement is the act of violating a copyright by copying or otherwise distributing a copyrighted work without permission of authorization
what can happen if you infringe? if you infringe on someone else copyright you can be sued
What does fair use allow? fair use allows copyrighted work to be repurposed and used in another work.
what are some example of fair use if copyrighted materials used for the following education,commentary or criticism,news reporting,parody or making fun of work, using a small portion of the work is considered fair use.
what is soft ware? programs that tell a computer what to do are called software.
what are some examples? micro soft office, micro type, and micropace
What is copyrighted software? Software that is legally protected against copying or being used without paying for it is called copyrighted software.
what is public domain software? public domain software is non copyrighted software that anyone may copy or use without change
what is shareware? shareware is copyrighted software that maybe tried without expense but requires payment if you decide to use it
what is freeware? freeware is software on the web that is freely available (but retains a copyright)
what are some examples of freeware? mozilla firefox, adobe flash player, and skype
what is piracy? The act of stealing valuable property by copying software, music, graphic/pictures, movies and books (all available on the internet).
what is hacking? Breaking into computers to read email and other files (hackers delete or alter files).
what is identity theft? Occurs when someone appropriates another’s personal info. Without their knowledge to commit or fraud.
what is releasing virus worms Intentionally releasing a virus or worm to harm others or attack networks.
