What are the principles of design? Balance, proportion and scale, emphasis, rhythm, and harmony.
What is the principle repetition? The form of repeating a design over and over again in a outfit, like a dress or top.
How does texture affect color? It can either reflect more light or absorb more light. In other words, smooth surfaces makes the wearer look heavier, and dull surfaces makes the wearer look thinner.
What type of textures increase a persons body size? Smooth surfaces that reflect light.
What do curved lines suggest? Gentle, romantic, fragile, soft, casual, feminine, graceful, and sensual.
What do diagonal lines suggest? Active, movement, instability excitement, interesting, dramatic, restless, sophisticated, in motion, and vitality.

What is asymmetrical balance? Example? Asymmetrical balance is when the design is balanced, but each side is different in some way. Example would be if one side of a dress has a different design and colors than the other side.
What is the difference between horizontal and vertical lines? Vertical lines gives off an illusion of making the wearer look longer, while horizontal lines makes the wearer look shorter and heavier.
What does harmony mean, how is it achieved? Harmony is the goal of design. All parts look as if they belong together. The elements of design and principles of design are working together.
What are the two things texture involves? Tactile and visual.
What are the four types of line? Vertical, curved, diagonal, and Horizontal.
What is proportion? The parts of a design are arranged so they achieve a feeling of rest and equilibrium, (balance).
What is symmetrical balance? Example? Both sides are exact, a mirror image of each other.
What is emphasis? What is another name for it? The focal point of fashion created by the use of line, shape, color, texture, and/or pattern. Another name for it is, Focal Point.
What is another name for symmetrical balance? Formal Balance
What is another name for asymmetrical balance? Informal Balance
What is the difference between gradation and radiation? Radiation is the lightening of the color from the center point coming outward. Gradation is the change of one tint or shade of a color to another.
If the elements of design are considered the "tools", what are the principles of design considered? The principle of design would be considered as the ideas, if the elements of designs were to be considered as the "tools".
