Baron von Steuben | Helped train the Continental Army and taught them to use a bayonet |
John Paul Jones | Continental Navy officer who defeated the British ship The Serapis |
Bernardo de Galvez- | captured British forts in Spanish-owned Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida shortly after the Spanish-American alliance |
Benedict Arnold | helped the Continental Army in the war before becoming America’s most known traitor |
Jean Rochambeau | A french commander who helped Washington defeat Yorktown |
Francis Marion | ” The Swamp Fox” who leads a band of guerilla fighters who destroy British boats, cut British communications |
Horatio Gates | commander of the southern army who failed and got fired after losing at Camden |
Nathanael Greene | replaced Gates, one of Washington's best men |
