Africa History unit vocabulary

Colonization Taking over another country's land and controlling all aspects.
Imperialism The belief that you can take as much land as you want to increase the power and wealth of your country.
Apartheid A system of separating the races of South Africa.
Pan-African movement A movement to unite the people of Africa and get them to end tribal conflict.
Nationalism A desire to change / improve your country.
African Nationalism A movement to gain African independence from European colonizers.
Nelson Mandela African leader who worked to end the system of apartheid in South Africa.
F.W. DeKlerk South African president who ended the laws of apartheid.
