What was the Whiskey Rebellion? It was when a tax on whiskey caused whiskey makers to rebel against the government.
What was the outcome of the rebellion? The government sent troops to intimidate the rebels and end the rebellion.
What caused the Whiskey Rebellion? A tax that was placed on whiskey.
What did George Washington think of political parties? He did not like them because he felt they would divide or split the country.
What did he believe about having war or alliances with other countries? He thought that the United States should stay out of foreign affairs and stay neutral.
Who were most of the supporters of the Democratic Republican Party? They were farmers and frontier settlers that favored strong national governments and France.
Who were most of the supporters of the Federalist Party? They were rich and educated, and favored strong national governments and favored the U.K.
What did the Alien act do? This law allowed the President to deport any immigrants that he felt were dangerous.
What was the Sedition Act? This allowed the president to arrest or fine someone if they said anything negative about the government.
What were the Alien and Sedition Acts used for? They were used to stop Democratic Republicans snd sympathizers for France.
What amendment was it in violation of? The first Amendment.
What party passed the Alien and Sedition acts? The Federalist Party.
What can states do to federal law? They can declare them unconstitutional.
What 2 states declared the Alien and Sedition acts unconstitutional? Virginia and Kentucky.
Who made the Virginia and Kentucky resolutions? James Madison and Thomas Jefferson.
What did the 12th amendment change? It put the President and Vice President on different ballots.
Which two candidates tied in the election? Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson
What party was the new president part of? The Democratic Republican Party.
How much did Jefferson want in the Louisiana Purchase? He just wanted the port of New Orleans.
Who sold the whole are to the U.S? Napoleon
Why did he do this? Because of the war with Great Britain
Why did Lewis and Clark leave on their expedition? To observe the new land bought in the Louisiana Purchase.
What was their number one goal? To find the Northwest Water Passage.
What did they do on this expedition? They made contact with Native Americans and documented new species of animals.
