English Colonization - Name that colony Test

This was the first proprietary colony. It was set up to provide religious freedom for Catholics. In 1649, the Toleration Act was passed to protect all Christians living in the colony Maryland
This colony was considered a "holy experiment"; a model of true religious freedom, peace and Christian living. The Quakers set up settlement of Philidelphia, also known as the city of brotherly love: Pennsylvania
This middle colony was originally call New Netherlands before it was taken over by the English in 1664. It was renamed in honor of the king's brothers New York
Both Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson lived in this New England colony. They both believed that there should be a separation between the church and the government: Rhode Island
This colony was dominated by Puritan beliefs, although the Separatists actually established the first settlement in the region. It was the first New England colony to be founded for religious freedom: Massachusetts
This was the last of the 13 colonies to be established and also the most southern. The king believed that setting up a colony in this region would protect English colonial land clams from the Spanish and Florida Georgia
This colony included the first permanent settlement in the English colonies. The colonists would profit greatly and gowing tobacco as a cash crop. They would also set up the first representative government in the colonies in 1619: Virginia
