Malcolm X | Civil rights leader who was a member of the Nation of Islam. He believed in using any means necessary to protect African Americans against mob violence. |
Brown vs. Board Of Education | In 1954 this Supreme Court case ended segregation in schools. This was an important milestone in the Civil Rights movement. |
Little Rock 9 | African American students escorted by the US Army, so they can attend all white high school in Arkansas in 1957. |
Civil Rights Act of 1964 | banned discrimination based on race, color, or religion. |
Voting Rights Act of 1965 | ended poll taxes and literacy tests which were used to prevent African Americans from voting. |

26th Amendment | lowered the voting age from 21 to 18. |
