| The Continental Army | The second Continental congress organized an army to fight the British and was lead by George Washington. |
| George Washington | The commander-in chief of the Continental Army. |
| Battle of Bunker Hill | A battle which was fought on Breeds hill during the siege of Boston |
| impose | To force something unwelcome to be accepted |
| Independence | Not being loyal to Great Britan |
| polices | rules inflicted on the colonists |
| olive branch petition | A petition sent to the king telling him to end the quarrel |
| Thomas Paine | A patriot who wrote Common Scence |
| Common Scence | A fiery pamphlet about how the colonists should not own any loyalty to King George |
| Declaration of indepedence | A formal statement declaring that the 13 colonies where free from Great Britain. |

| Natural rights | Rights that people have under Natural law |
| Fundamental rights | Rights that are recognized by the supreme court and are identified in the Consitution |
| Independence Day | A day celebrating our independence from Great Britain |
| Patrick Henry | A founding father who said "Give me liberty or give me death". |
| The Preamble of the Declaration of Independence | The start of the Declaration of Independence that defines the political beliefs of the writers |
