What is a compass? Device that uses magnetism to show direction with a needle and a dial
What is a caravel? Technology that allowed for greater speed and allowed the captain to steer the ship
What was the Age of Exploration? Began in 1400s when countries sent explorers from Europe to the Americas to create colonies
What does exploration mean? To travel to an unfamiliar area to learn more about it
What does colonization mean? One country controls another for money
What is a continent? One of the main land masses of the globe, (Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, and Antarctica).

What does Latitude measure? north to south on the globe
What was the Columbian Exchange? The exchange or trade of goods and other things such as diseases between the European explorers and the Native Americans in North and South America
Diseases brought over by Europeans that killed Native Americans were... Small pox, measles, & influenza
What is a plantation? A large farm for cotton, sugar, and tobacco that used slaves as workers.
What was the Triangle Trade? Exchange of goods between Africa, the Americas and Europe.
