| climate | the average weather of a place over time |
| precipitation | the water that falls to the ground as rain snow sleet or hail. |
| temperature | a measure of how hot or cold the air is. |
| polar zone | high latitudes |
| temperate zone | middle latitudes |
| high latitudes | very cold areas |
| middle latitudes | areas between high ans low latitudes |
| tropics | the parallel of latitude north tropic cancer or south tropic of Capricorn of the equator |
| altitude | is height above sea level |
| low latitudes | the areas between the tropic of cancer and the tropic of Capricorn |
| water cycle | the movement of water from earth's surface into the atmosphere and back |
| evaporation | the process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| intertopical convergence zone | is the area of rising air |
