Unalienable Rights | Natural rights possessed by all people such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence |
Battle of Lexington and Concord | The first shots of the American Revolution were fired here; also known as the "shot heard 'round the world" |
Valley Forge | After enduring a winter of terrible suffering, the Continental Army is inspired by Thomas Paine's work The Crisis |
Battle of Saratoga | The turning point in the American Revolution when France became allies of the colonists in the war |
Battle of Yorktown | The British defeat here by George Washington's troops signaled the end of the American Revolution |
Treaty of Paris 1783 | Ended the American Revolution and forced Britain to recognize the United States as an independent nation |

John Paul Jones | Patriot naval commander who led raids on British vessels and was famous for his quote, "I have not yet begun to fight!" |
Wentworth Cheswell | African American Patriot who served in the Continental Army and fought at the Battle of Saratoga |
James Armistead | Slave recruited as a spy for the Continental Army by Lafayette |
Haym Salomon | Jewish American who helped finance the American Revolution |
Mercy Otis Warren | Wrote several propaganda pieces supporting the Patriot cause and advisor to Revolutionary leaders |
