Metaphor a figure of speech comparing 2 unalike things that have something in common; used with out the use of "with" or "as"
Personification when the author gives a idea, object or animal qualities of a person

Idiom an expression that means something different than the original dictionary definition of it's individual words.
Alliteration the repetition of usually initial constant sounds in two or more syllables; writers want to emphasize the words
Onomatopia the imitation of natural sounds to form a word
Hyperbole a figure of speech in which exaggeration is used for emphasis or effect.
Repetition one or more words are repeated to show urgency/importance
