| Crispus Attucks | One of five colonists killed at the Boston Massacre. He was a dockworker who was part African American and part Native American. |
| Boston Massacre March 5, 1770 | A fight that broke out with British soldiers and Bostonians. The Bostonians moved toward the soldiers and the customhouse and threw sticks and rocks, and carried clubs. After a soldier was knocked down, the troops fired and killed five citizens. |
| Tea Act 1773 | This law allowed sole control (monopoly) of the trade of tea to the colonies. The act let the company to sell directly to shopkeepers and cut out the colonial merchants who distributed tea. The Daughters of Liberty said, "We'll part with our tea." |
| Boston Tea Party 1773 | The royal governor refused to let the ships leave the harbor and ordered them unloaded. The Boston Sons of Liberty dressed up as Mohawk Native Americans and threw 342 chests of tea overboard. Colonists celebrated this event. |
| George III | He realized that England was losing control of the colonies. He was the King of England who said, "We must master them or totally leave them alone." |
| Coercive Acts | These acts were to punish the Massachusetts people. It closed the Boston Harbor. There was no delivery of food, and supplies. It also took away town meetings and made people house soldiers in their homes. It violated their rights as British citizens. |
| Quebec Act (Intolerable Acts) | It gave Quebec the area west of the Appalachian Mountains and north of the Ohio River. It ignored the colonists claims to this area. |
