Battle of Midway | World War 2 naval battle between the United States and Japan in 1942 that weakened the Japanese threat in the Pacific |
Battle of Stalingrad | Unsuccessful German attack on the city of Stalingrad during World War 2, from 1942 to 1943, that was the farthest extent of German advance into the Soviet Union |
Holocaust | Murder of about 12 million people, including 6 million Jews, by Nazis during World War 2 |
