Anti-Anginal Meds

Verapamil CCB - also reduces myocardial contractility - treats arrythmias and Heart failure
Diltiazem CCB - also reduces myocardial contractility - peripheral edema most common side effect
Nifedipine (Procardia) CCB - treats spasms r/t prinzmetal' s angina.
Amlodipine (Norvasc) - CCB - treats HPN - side effects include hyptension, bradycardia, fatigue and syncope.
Metroprolol BB - may mask hypoglycemic tachycardia -
Naldol Non-selective BB -
atenolol BB - abript withdrawl could cause side effects like an MI.
Propranolol BB -
Nitro-stat Rapid acting Nitrate - administered 5mins apart x3 doses - lasts up to 60mins - onset 1-3mins.
Transderm nitro, nitro-disc, nitro-dur effects begin slowly within 30-60mins - lasts as long as patch is in place.
Nitro-bid Sustained release p.o. tablets -
Isorbide mononitrate Relief of stable angina
Isorbide dinitrate Relief of acute angina and exertional angina.
