RAM | Also called random access memory, is a temporary memory unit inside the computer that holds new data and the data becomes available when the computer is turned on. |
Bit | A binary character (either 0 or 1) that acts like the computer’s language. |
Keyboard | An device that inputs information such as alphabetic or numeric, along with operational keys. |
Classroom response system | Also known as “clicker,” is a remote like device that students use to answer questions that the instructor asks. The student’s answers are sent wirelessly to the instructor. |
Liquid crystal display | Or LCD, is a type of display technology for monitors. |
Dots per inch | The measurement of resolution for printers. The higher the dots per inch the more crisp and distinct the text or graphic will be. |
Data projection units | A projector that is a combination of a light source and LCD display. |
Lumens | measures the brightness of projectors. The more lumens a projector has the easier it is to see the display without having to turn off the lights in the room. |
Ethernet port | an opening connected to the back of an computer that allows high speed access to internet or intranet. |
Anti-glare filter | A clear screen cover that prevents various sources of light from glaring onto the computer screen. |
Arm and wrist supports | helps to avoid pain in the wrists, hands, arms when exceissivly using a computer hardware, such as a mouse and keyboard, by controlling the placement of the arms and wrists. |
Moisture guard | protects keyboards from liquid spills like water and soda with a thing plastic cover. |
PAC Mate | A type of PDA that uses a keyboard instead of a stylus. This type of PDA is geared for students who are blind or have low- vision. |
