cybercrime | include stolen credit cards,drones have been high jacked and _social security numbers_ have been compromised |
malware | software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems. |
viruses | it can steal or delete programs, control programs, or be controlled by remote operation; gets installed and harms the user and computer and can spread to other computers |
botnet | a network of private computers infected with malicious software and controlled as a group without the owners' knowledge, e.g., to send spam messages. |
spyware | software that enables a user to obtain covert information about another's computer activities by transmitting data covertly from their hard drive. |
adware | software that automatically displays or downloads advertising material (often unwanted) when a user is online |
firewall | a part of a computer system or network that is designed to block unauthorized access while permitting outward communication. |
spoofing | is the creation of email messages with a forged sender address. |
phishing | When an eMail tricks the user to share important personal information (like a bank account number) this is known as a phishing scam |
pharming | he fraudulent practice of directing Internet users to a bogus website that mimics the appearance of a legitimate one, in order to obtain personal information such as passwords, account numbers, etc. |
spam | Large of amounts of eMail |
hacking | methods to avoid this include using strong passwords, installing system security updates often and checking for authentic web addresses |
