Term | Definition |
Computer Network | A group of computers connected together in a way that allows information to be exchanged between the computers. |

Ethernet | A widely used communications protocol for a LAN and uses a twisted pair or coaxial cables |
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol | A Protocol is a set of guidelines or rules so we connect networks in exactly the same way |

IP Addresses | A number used to uniquely identify a computer on the Internet |
Client to Server Network | The model assigns one of two roles to the computers in a network: client or server |
Peer to Peer Network | A network where all networks are on the same level and users have direct access to other computers |
Wired | A wired network uses cables to connect to the network |
LAN | A computer network covering a small geographic area, like a home, office, or group of buildings |
Wireless | A wireless network doesn’t use cables |
WAN | A computer network that covers a broad area (e.g., any network whose communications links cross metropolitan, regional, or national boundaries |
WiFi | A family of wireless networking standards short for Wireless Fidelity |
Bluetooth | A standard for low-cost, short-range, wireless connections between Bluetooth-enabled devices |
Virtual Private Network (VPN) for short | A VPN is a method used to extend a private network over a public network. |
