| Adversity | state or condition contrary to well being |
| Arbitrate | to submit or refer for decision to an independent person in order to settle a dispute |
| Compromise | coming to an agreement in which each person gives up something in order to get what they both want |
| Conflict | any struggle, disagreement, or fight |
| Conflict resolution | the process of settling a conflict by cooperating and problem solving |
| Legislate | to make laws or rules to settle a conflict |
| Litigate | to contest a dispute in a court of law |
| Mediation | a process in which a neutral third party is used to help reach a solution that’s agreeable to both sides |
| Negotiation | the process of discussing problems face-to-face in order to reach a solution |
| Selfishness | having little or no concern for others |
| Team | a cooperative unit |
| Tolerance | the ability to overlook or accept things you do not agree with; accepting and respecting other people’s customs and beliefs |
| Trust | a firm belief in the honesty and reliability of another person |
