Term | Definition |
Animation | Adds motion to an object. |
Boradcasting | Placing a link to a presentation on the Web to allow others to watch your presentation as you give it from a remote location through a Web browser. |
Handouts | Printouts that include a small image of the slides and an area to take notes. Can be formatted in several different ways using the Handout master formatting and Backstage view print options. |
Layout | The way content and text placeholders are placed on the slide. |
Live Preview | The Office 2010 feature that lets you point to the various choices in a gallery or palette and see the results before applying. |
Normal View | The view that includes the Slides/Outline tabs on the left, the Slide pane showing the selected slide in the center, and the Notes pane beneath the Slide pane. Commonly used to place objects on the slide. |
Notes Page View | A view in PowerPoint for working on the speaker notes page; includes placeholders for the slide notes. |
Notes Pane | The area below the Slide pane where you can type speaker notes. |
Outline Tab | A tab used to enter text in Normal view, located on the left side of the window in the same pane as the Slides tab. |
PowerPoint Presentation | A computer slide show created in PowerPoint. |
Reading View | A Power Point view you can use to display your presentation; very much like Slide Show view, the slide does not quite fill the screen and you can use the navigation buttons on the status bar beneath the slide. |
Slide Pane | The main work area for the selected slide in Normal view. |
Slide Show View | A view in Power Point that shows the slides on the full screen with animations and transitions. |
Slide Sorter View | A view in PowerPoint that displays a thumbnail of each slide in the order in which they appear in the presentation; used to rearrange slides, check timings, and view slide transitions. |
Slides Tab | In Normal view, the tab on the left slide of a PowerPoint window that displays thumbnails of each side. |
Thumbnails | A small graphic image. |
Transition | The animated way in which a slide appears and leaves the screen during a slide show. |
