Term | Definition |
Algorithm | A set of clearly defined, logical steps that solve a problem. |
Application Software | Helps the end user perform a specific task; also called productivity software. |
Beta Testing | A process that relases commercial software in development to a cross-section of typical users who evaluate the program and report any problems or "bugs" in the software before it is relased to the public. |
Bundleware | Software included with the purchase of a new computer. |
Flowchart | Shows different paths the program will take depending on what data is inputted. |
Inputting | The process of using an input device to enter data. |
Network License | Gives an organization the right to install a programon a server that can be accessed by a specific number of computers. |
Opperating systems | Provide an interface between the user or application program and the computer harfdware. |
Patch | Applied over software that is already installed to fix a problem. |
Service pack | Downloadable fix for a software problem. |
Single-user license | Gives user the right to install the software on a single computer. |
Software | Programming code written to provide instructions to the hardware so it can perform tasks. |
Software as a service (SAAS) | Software delivery method where an application is licensed for use as a service. |
Software Development | A multistep process of writing computer programs to perform a task more effictively and/or efficiently. |
Software License | Gives user permission to use program. |
Software Piracy | The unauthorized copying of software. |
System Software | The opperating system and all utility programs that manage computer resources at a low level. |
Upgrades | Revised versions of a software program that require the purchase of a newer version of the software. |
Update | Minior improvements and modifications to some of the software's features. |
Web Applications | Programs without platform constraints or installation requirements that are accessed through a web browser over a network such as an intranet or the internet. |
