Absolute cell address | A spreadsheet application code, represented by a dollar sign, indicating a cell address that should not be altered |
AutoSum | A button in Microsoft Excel that allows quick access to the SUM function. |
AVERAGE | A Microsoft Excel function that averages values of the contents of a range of cells |
Condition argument | The value of the IF function in Microsoft Excel that is the value you want to test. |
Conditional formatting | A feature in Excel that allows users to format values and text based on chosen criteria. |
COUNT | An Excel function that tallies (counts) the number of cells in a range. |
COUNTA | An Excel function that tallies the number of cells in range not including blank cells. |
COUNTBLANK | An Excel function that tallies the number of cells in a range that are blank. |
COUNTIF | An Excel function that tallies the number of cells in a range that satisfy criteria. |
Fill handle | The small box that appears in Excel on the bottom right of a cell when you select it. |

MAX | An Excel function that returns the largest number in a range of cells. |
MIN | An Excel function that returns the smallest number in a range of cells. |
Pointing | Clicking on a cell or dragging over a range of cells for use in a formula. |
Range | A block of cells in Excel. |
Relative addressing | A function of Excel that copies the cell references relative to the location of the formula when a formula is copied or moved. |
Scale to Fit | A feature in Microsoft Office that allows users to shrink the font size in a document so that it prints on a single page. |
SUM | An Excel function that totals values or the contents of a range of cells. |
Value_if_false argument | The value of the IF function in Excel that is what you want to happen if the condition is not met. |
Value_if_true argument | The value of the IF function in Excel that is what you want to happen if the condition is met. |
What-if analysis | Testing various scenarios by re-entering spreadsheet data in order to recalculate formulas and thus gauge the impact of proposed changes. |
