Bluetooth | Allows electronic devices like cell phones and computers to exchange data over short distances using radio waves |
Chat Room | A virtual room where people discuss using text over the Internet |
Cloud Storage | a model of networked online storage where data is stored in virtualized pools of storage which are generally hosted by third parties |

Internet Protocol address | a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g., computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. |
Local Area Network | confined to a small area, generally limited to a building or a geographical area, no more than a mile apart |
Metropolitan Area Network | Often used by libraries and government agencies to connect to citizens and private business industries; network classificaton that is less than 30 miles in distance |
Modem | a contraction of the words modulator-demodulator. A modem is typically used to send digital data over a phone line |
Moore’s Law | the observation that over the history of computing hardware, the number of transistors on integrated circuits doubles approximately every two year |
Network Interface Card | allows you to plug an Ethernet cable into or helps you connect wirelessly to the Internet or a network |
Networking | to share information between computers |
Public internet access point | A public place that provides internet access to users or customers |
Router | a device that forwards data packets between computer networks, creating an overlay internetwork |
Server | offers users (clients) access to the same information |
Video Conferencing | Live conferences over the Internet that includes voice, video, and or text |
Wide Area Network | Connects larger geographical areas, such as London, the UK, or the world |
Wi-Fi | Wireless local area network that uses radio signals to transmit data |
Bandwidth | The amount of data that can be transferred over a network in a certain amount of time |
