How change can occur in structure & function
Help!
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Why Change Occurs: | Placebo effect, neural adaptation, strength, skill learning
🗑
| Placebo Effect | based on pt and clinician's expectations & clinicians competence. Occurs early and most likely not long-term
🗑
| Neural Adaptation/Activation | changes in coordination/learning during specific strength tasks. Pt making adaptation in doing things diff ways, not changes in the muscles themselves
🗑
| Strength | improvement in strength/muscle group. Happens @ 2 weeks. Needs regular maintenance.
🗑
| Changes in strength needs 3 things to happen: | overload, specificity, velocity
🗑
| *Overload | muscles ned to work harder than normal for increased strength to occur, use increased resistance.
🗑
| *Specificity | muscles get stronger in task which they are trained
🗑
| *Velocity | strength will be increased @ velocity its trained @- fast or slow, whichever is the goal.
🗑
| Skill Learning | changing cortical map of how to do a task
