The SLP as Counselor   -Help client understand nature of disorder -use the resources available to remediate it -The impact it may have on life -How it may limit certain performances (school/work) -How it may affect social interactions

Advocate (noun)   -One who pleads the cause of another

Advocate (verb)   -plead in favor of, to support, vindicate, of recommend publicly

SLP as Advocate   -help them receive services to which they are entitled -Inform them of their rights to services or equipment -Protects their rights as defined by law

SLP and Client Records (why?)   -required by law -share with other professionals -for 3rd party payers

SLP and Paraprofessionals   -paras must work under supervision. -para does not make decisions about client treatment -paras can do exercises/activities -do therapy instructed by them.

Service Delivery   -How and why we do therapy -individual or group -at home, school, hospital, rehab centers, telecommunication, computer assisted programs
