| Is second language (L2) acquisition the same as first language (L1) Acquisition? | Fundamentally different based on the Fundamenta diffence hypothesis. One learned consciously the other unconsciously, use stages but different types.

| How do Adults learn a second language? Do they go through stages? | L2 in adults is learned consiously; they go through the interlanguage grammar stage on the way to the target lang.

| Do they achieve a native-like proficiency in the target language? Why? | The proficiency depends on their motivation, age, degree of fossilization of the vocal apparatus, talent, location where lang learned, time spent, most all are left with an accent.
