Accuracy   The measure of error in keyboarding.

Shift Key   Key used to make capital letters & certain symbols when pressed in combination w/ another key.

Enter Key   Key pressed to begin a new line or to signal the computer that data has been entered complete.

QWERTY   The most common keyboard arrangement, named for the first letters across the top row.

Home Row   The 8 keys your hands start from when keyboarding: A S D F J K L ;

Italic   A style of character where the letters slant upward to the right.  
🗑
Caps Lock Key   When pressed, this key turns all letters into capital letters.  
🗑
Function Keys   Keys labeled from F1 to F12 that are designated to perform a certain task. (ex: screen refresh)

Double Spacing   Horizontal line spacing that leaves one blank line between lines of text.  
🗑
Indent   To set in from the margin, as the first line of a paragraph.  
🗑
Arrow Keys   Keys used to move the cursor up, down, left or right on the screen.

Bold   A style of character where the letters are thick and dark.  
🗑
Combination Keys   Two keys used together, such as the shift key + number 1 to make an exclamation point.

Single Spacing   To leave no space between lines of text in a document.

Font   A set of characters with a particular design and size.  
🗑
Justification   Alignment of text on a page (left, right, center or full)  
🗑
Escape Key   A key that lets the user cancel the last operation and go back to the previous screen.

Backspace Key   A key used to back up and erase the character or space to the left of the cursor.  
🗑
Keyboard   An arrangement of keys on a "board" that is attached to a computer; used to input data.

Tab Key   When pressed, this key moves the cursor to a preset alignment in a document.

Words Per Minute (WPM)   The measure of output speed when typing.  
🗑
Delete Key   Key used to erase highlighted characters; also erases characters to the right of the cursor.  
🗑
Shortcut Keys   A single key or a combination of keys used to save keystrokes or mouse clicks.

Space Bar   The long bar at the bottom of a keyboard used to create a blank space in text.  
🗑
Keyboarding   The ability to enter text by using the correct fingers without looking at the keys.  
🗑
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome   Disorder that causes numbness in the hand and pain the wrist; caused by compression of nerves.

Ergonomics   The science of designing safe and comfortable machines for humans; helps with posture.  
🗑
Word Wrap   The automatic movement of a word to the next line when it reaches the end of a line of text.  
🗑
Symbol Keys   Keys containing characters other than a letter or number; must use the Shift Key (ex: & % $ @)  
🗑
Striking   The act of tapping or pressing the keys of a keyboard with a finger or thumb.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
 
To hide a column, click on the column name.
 
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
 
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
 
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
