What is the purpose of the chi-square test? | It provides an answer to whether two variables are independent of each other or not. It is used for nominal data.

What is the purpose of the t-test? | Its purpose is to provide an answer to whether one population is different from another population (where the standard deviation is unknown).

What is the purpose of the independent samples t test? | It provides an answer to whether the two samples were drawn from two different populations.

What is the difference between the one sample t test and the independent samples t test? | One sample t test is used comparing ONE set of scores taken from ONE sample group to determine if it differs from a test value.
Two sample t test - comparing TWO sets of scores taken from TWO sample, see if they come from the same population.

What is the differences between the independent samples t test and the paired sample t ttest? | Correlated-groups (=paired sample) t test is used when you are comparing TWO sets of scores taken from ONE sample group (or two matched groups) to determine if they come from the same population.

What is the within subjects and matched-subjects design? | It can be either within-subjects design (same ppl are used in each group) or a matched-participants design (different participants are matched between groups)
