Character   Any animal, person or animated object that takes part in a story

Point of View   The position or perspective from which the story is told: who is telling the story

Internal Conflict   The struggle of a character against himself or herself (emotional or mental)

External Conflict   The struggle between a character and someone or something other than himself (nature, person,or society)

Plot   The action or series of events in a story

Resolution   The solution to a storys conflict or problem/main problem

Mood   The effect of a story on the feelings of the reader feel about the subject.

Theme   The underlying idea or lesson the author is trying to teach or show in a story

Authors Craft   The purposeful choices the author makes with language and story elements

Purpose   What the author means to accomplish in his or her work (ex. entertainment, teaching a lesson, etc.)
