3-D printing (3-DP)   The ability to use printer-like technology to output three-dimensional objects using one of a variety of materials. Also called additive manufacturing.

.stl file name extension   From stereolithography, the name used for 3-D printing in an early patent. The file name extension used by one of the most widely used 3-D file formats.

hologram   An image generally created by splitting laser light so it appears as a full 3-D image, either still or in motion. It may appear to float, or may be projected so it appears positioned on a surface.

Quantum Photonic Imager (QPI)   A microchip containing micro LEDs which makes it possible to layer light to create floating hologram images. The chip can control the color, brightness, and angle of each tiny light beam.
