| K-slot | Abbreviation for Kensington security slot. A slot or hole in the side of some notebook PCs for connecting a special type of lock that connects to a steel cable.

| separation alarm | An alarm system that consists of two small devices—one attached to the computer and the other attached to a person or workstation. If the pieces get separated by a certain distance, an alarm will sound.

| warranty | A guarantee from a manufacturer that a purchased device will be free from manufacturing defects for a certain period of time.
