Application Software | Is a type of software that includes programs that help people do certain tasks.

Binary Code | Is a language a computer can understand. Made up of a series of ones and zeros.

Boot | Is the process of starting or resting a computer.

Byte | Stands for a single character of data.

Central Processing Unit (CPU) | A silicon chip that processes data and carries out instructions given to the computer. AKA: microprocesser.

Compact Disc (CD) | An optical storage device that uses laser technology to store information.

Computer | A device that can store, retrieve, manipulate and process data to produce an outcome.

Floppy Disk | A magnetic, non-rigid storage device that can be used to store data and transport it to another computer. It is encased in a plastic sleeve to protect its data

Graphical User Interface(GUI) | Allows people to select text,icons,and menu items on the computer screen to choose commands and files and to start application software. It makes computers user friendly.

Hard Drive | A storage device that reads and writes data to and from round,rigid disks in the computer.

Hardware | The physical equipment of a computer. Includes input devices, the CPU, output devices and memory. The main parts are the CPU, the monitor,the keyboard,and the mouse.

Headphones | An output device that produces sound.

Information Technology(IT) | The use of technology tools, including computer systems and telecommunications, to input,store,process and communicate information.

Review the information in the table. When you are ready to quiz yourself you can hide individual columns or the entire table. Then you can click on the empty cells to reveal the answer. Try to recall what will be displayed before clicking the empty cell.
To hide a column, click on the column name.
To hide the entire table, click on the "Hide All" button.
You may also shuffle the rows of the table by clicking on the "Shuffle" button.
Or sort by any of the columns using the down arrow next to any column heading.
If you know all the data on any row, you can temporarily remove it by tapping the trash can to the right of the row.
