| Measuring EDEMA | For baseline of treatment | See if better or worse based on activity and hand positioning | Compare measurments of unaffected limb to affected limb | Compare limb to itself at different times of day |

| Ways to measure | Volume measurment (ml)( not appropriate for open hand wound, external fixated device, plaster of paris cast | Circumferential measurement using tape measure or ring sizer ( don't do it too tight, make sure on same spot, use cloth not metal) |
