Access Copyright   This is a company that provides licensing solutions for companies, government and educators for free and legitimate access to copyright materials while ensuring the creators/author of the original material are paid for secondary uses.

Copyright   The "right to copy". When a work is created so is the copyright. Usually copyright is signalled with a '©' symbol, however the author of a work is always protected whether there is a sign or not.

Intellectual Property   Property that does not have a physical form, it is the result of intellectual activity. Two examples of intellectual property are song lyrics or a computer code.

Royalty   Profit made by the creator of a work/invention for allowing others to use what they have made.

Trade-Marks   A particular design, slogan, or type of packaging (for example) that helps distinguish the work of an individual or company.

Public Domain   Works that are freely available to the public. No permission is needed to use these services.

Moral Rights   Exists as long as the copyright of a work exists. Comprised of Rights of Paternity (claim authorship), Integrity (respecting the works original form), and Association (prevent the use of the work in assoc. with a product, service, cause, or institution.)

Performing Rights   Part of copyright law that demands payment for public performances and gives the right to perform music in public.

Plagiarism   The act of copying the words or product of someone else and taking credit for work that you have stolen.

Fair Dealing   Fair dealings are possible defences that can be used for the infringement. Fair dealing is a limitation and exception to the creators exclusive rights.

Patent   A patent is a government enforced protection and prevention used so that others can not use, make or sell your invention.

Blanket License   Allows the user of the music files unlimited access to the licensed music for a contracted period of time in exchange for profit.
